The UK Fort Boyard is, or was, on all the time on Challenge TV.

It had Melinda Messenger, a couple of dwarves, Leslie Grantham until he got kicked off for being a perv, then they replaced him with DCI Burnside from The Bill.

It was alright, but never once reached the giddy heights of The Crystal Maze (The Richard O'Brien years)

I loved Fort Boyard, Tom Baker as the man in the lighthouse was just awesome.
I never did like the last challenge though. Why not just pull up your shirt, put all the coins in and leg it?

So...hypnotic....
