So, I don't know how to fill these in usually, so I found a thread where I could steal a ready made template from and made it about me, so as I said I would do (meant to do this sooner, but been working too hard), here is my introduction.

Name: Chris

Age: 26

Gaming since...: I can remember.

Gaming heritage: Thinking about this actually makes me realise how much I was spoiled as a kid. First computer I remember having was a Commodore 64 before I upgraded to a NES. From there I ended up with both a Mega Drive and SNES (so I never had to pick between a speedy hedgehog and a fat plumber). From that point I skipped the (original) Playstation, although my brother had one, and went for the Nintendo 64 which spawned some of my all time favourites (Ocarina of Time is still to this day, amazing). After that point, I got a PS2, Gamecube and Xbox (although the 2 latter consoles didn't last long before I sold them on). Since then it's been Xbox 360 all the way (although I did own a Wii for a brief period when they were first released). I also have a selection of handheld devices including a PSP (original model) and the 3DS.

My favourite type of game: I don't really have a single favourite type, I'm a mixed bag sort of gamer (if you saw my collection, you'd see why).

You will mostly find me playing: Recently it would have been Skyrim, but since yesterday, I'm working my way through UFC Undisputed 3, so until Mass Effect 3 is released, I'll go with UFC.

I will hump the living shite out of you on: Probably nothing, I'm an average gamer if I'm honest, my best bet would probably be UFC 3 since I'm getting a head start.

You will best me on: Fighting games, racing games, first person shooters, FIFA, Madden (those Americans must play it non-stop) and probably most other games you can think of.

As a gamer, I am: As sad as it sounds, one of the people who is annoyed with all games developers now having a tendency to focus on multiplayer modes while single player campaigns get shorter and just seem uninspired. I don't mind playing online against friends or occasionally jumping into a game of Battlefield, but it'd be nice if we could get some thought for people who don't want to get annoyed by kids who shouldn't be playing the games in the first place.

Anything else you want to know that isn't already there, feel free to ask, I might not answer, but it'll be fun finding out. Anyway, enough babbling on, I hope to be around as often as I remember and I'll try and be as productive as possible.

I know it was in jest, but after my recent teasing at the hands of MancMonkeyDave regarding playing RAGE on Normal difficulty, I got to thinking:

Is Normal acceptable any more?

With many people jumping straight into Veteran difficulty on each new COD game and a lot of other titles having a 'Super Hard' mode unlocking after completion of the game (suggesting that the normal Hard isn't that difficult at all), is 'Normal' just a more socially acceptable name for Easy these days?

Ken Levine has been talking about Bioshock Infinite's '1999' mode, which is basically Fucking Hard mode. He's stated that 'Average' gamers will hate it. It's really only for the hardcore gamer. [ Kotaku.com ]
Well I consider myself a hardcore gamer, but I admit to getting wound up if a game seems too hard. I was stuck for a long time on COD4 when a level seemed impassable. And I never completed the first Devil May Cry because I just couldn't get past the first boss.

Thing is, I learned from COD4 that starting on Hard is not for me. I get frustrated with the gameplay and don't enjoy the story that the game tries to tell. By playing on Normal I can enjoy the adventure before gnawing my knuckles off on Hard mode later.

Is Normal too easy now?

Are you a lesser gamer for not jumping straight into Hard difficulty?

Am I reading too much into MancMonkeyDave's jibe?

Ok didn't want to bog down first impressions with help needed. So I wanted to get some tips from the fallout think tank on here so I don't ditch the game. I don't want to do a walk through as I want to enjoy the plot(s) but am waining a little as I seem to have little direction.

My issue is I wander to unfound location to unfound location to unlock them. If I'm lucky I kill a few enemies find some objects and then fast travel back to megaton get healed or buy stim packs. Then carry on exploring. Now that's fine if I end up levelling up, but right now I'm level 4.6 ish and can't see me having the health or kit to clear out the mutants in the police station for eg and save big town.

So my request is with out spoilers am I on the right track, or should I do something different. Trev, Gothic you gave me some decent tips before. Help. I like the game and can be patient. But am I doing the right stuff?

Picking up several years after the explosive finale of Saints Row 2, ‘The Third moves the action to the all new city of Steelport. After a business proposition from the city’s gang conglomerate, The Syndicate, ends in bloodshed, The Saints begin systematically taking over their new found territory.

What follows is a series of quirky missions that are at times thrilling, at other times hilarious, but always good fun.
Bolstering the story are a variety of Activities, many of which will be familiar to series veterans and some which are all new or variations on the same theme.
Voice acting is top notch with some surprise star turns from the likes of Rob Van Dam, Hulk Hogan and Burt Reynolds and the regular cast all providing very entertaining performances with brilliant comic timing.

It’s not all perfect though. The way in which missions are presented - as calls on your phone rather than icons on the map - can break the flow of the story due to not being sure which faction’s story you’re about to follow. Side missions such as Hitman and Chop Shop are now presented one at a time as opposed to being given a list for you to complete at your leisure, this has the feel of the missions being artificially extended and as a result not quite as fun as before.

Despite this, Saints Row The Third is a brilliant sandbox to play in and well worth investing a couple of weeks into it.

8
Not as good as it’s predecessor, but a glorious exercise in unashamed fun.

Im personally quite jealous that my best friend can play Portal 2 on PS3 with my mates on PC, and with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive just around the corner, I want to show how good us console dwellers can be, and show that being cocky for owning an expensive PC can come back and bite you!
Saturday night Reflex off of here sent me and Dave a link to playfire.com/xbox/username, apparently he had set up a profile for dave and myself. I went there to check it out and it asked for your live email address, okay I can do that, then it asked for your live password to verify who you were, well sorry but that was never going to happen.

Does anyone know anything about this site, ie. is it genuine?

Hope Reflex hasn't been scammed by this, but if it is genuine then whats its purpose?

You’d be forgiven for wondering what all the fuss is about when it comes to Bastion, SuperGiant Games award winning RPG.
Presented in an isometric format with hack and slash gameplay, you access levels via a central hub while all the time leveling up and upgrading your equipment. So far, so ordinary.

Indeed, for the first couple of hours I wondered what all the fuss was about. This was nothing new. I’d played this kind of game before, why oh why was it winning VGAs and accolades from all corners of the gaming media?

Was it this narration by the gruff voiced stranger? Because if it is, I’d love to know why because it was annoying the hell out of me.
Was it the way the world builds up around me as I explore? Not that impressed, truth be told.

But after those initial hours have passed and I got into the swing of things, the world a Caelondia sucked me in and refused to let go. I listened intently as Rucks’ tale unfolded and the truth behind The Calamity was revealed.

With Bastion, it’s not really one thing, but all the different elements coming together to create a beautifully crafted world and wonderfully told story that despite a rather unimpressive opening develops into a truly mesmerizing and compelling gameplay experience. Delightfully old school while unmistakably fresh and new, I can now see how it and it’s developer has become the industry darling.

8

Far deeper than it’s opening hours suggest

I've been debating for a while if it'll be worth purchasing Street Fighter x Tekken when it comes out, which then got me thinking of other 'x' games that came out, so..........

What crossover's did you like/hate/would like to see?

I actually thought Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was a good game albeit limited characters and stuff to do, wernt shit, but wernt amazing.

What would I like to see? Valve team up with tryarch and make a L4D x Nazi Zombies that would be epic!

Hi all,

We are looking for older gamers 21+ (although so far members are in their late 30s) to join in our social team v team games, we have just set up a website for it.

How it works is, as this is an optional feature of our site. You can choose to join team one or team two and then a couple of times a week there are fun social matches between the teams in private games on various titles, as most of us are getting fed up with getting slaughtered by kids

If you are interested take a look;
http://forum.playconsole.co.uk

It is also a general gaming community/achievement hunting. But we are trying to make a real go of our in house team games as we are enjoying the likes of BF3, MW3, Forza and others right now

Hi everyone - just thought I'd stop by and say hello, since I'm the new face behind the 360 Gamer website. It's my job to make the site as interesting and exciting as possible, as well as providing all the content that you guys need between reading each issue of the mag; I've got a lot of things planned for it (video stuff, podcasts and more) so things will be improving as the weeks go by. Might take some time though... I'm just one person, after all!

Anyway, I'm always available if you have something you want to talk to me about so feel free to drop me a PM. Otherwise, thanks for being here and I hope you enjoy where I take the site in the future!

Just had my lovely Gears 3 console shit itself and die. Got the console replaced and managed to keep my previous hard drive.

Got home and inserted the old drive (still 320Gb) into the new machine and the damn thing wouldn't update. I did the hard drive cache wipe in the memory settings and it made no difference. It turns out that this doesn't clear the update cache, to do this you have to turn on the Xbox whilst holding down the little connect controller button next to the usb ports.

Hey presto it works.. Any one else got any tips that may save hours of forum trolling?
