The next Bioshock game could well be a prequel, according to sources within 2K Games.
According to Czech website Hrej (via Gamed.nl), sources at 2K Games have revealed that the events in the next Bioshock game will be set before those of the first game (which we gave a wholly deserved ten in our review), and that the prequel is now in the preproduction phase.
With 2K Games still to announce that a new Bioshock game is even in development – let alone what such a game may contain – there’s every chance this could be a load of old nonsense. However, there’s no denying that it sounds potentially stunning: having seen what it had been reduced to in the original BioShock, the chance to witness the rise and fall of Rapture would be most welcome.
With a mooted release date of summer 2009, chances are we won’t hear too much more on this for a while. Nevertheless, if we do get word of any more details, we’ll be sure to let you know.
